About this blog
Real, wholesome fun.
The credit for that largely goes to our parents who created an environment where fun was so easy. This blog is committed to helping you foster that same kind of creative and inexpensive wholesomeness in your home.
What you will find here
For households with children of all ages (babies-young adult) I hope to write the following kinds of posts:
1. Fun ideas from life experience
2. Advice on fun day-to-day home life (from my mother's fount of wisdom, my own experiences, and books)
3. Particularly creative or wise exerpts from books I've read
4. Game reviews (board games, card games, parlour games, etc)
5. Book reviews
6. Wholesome movie reviews (not too many of these- a movie has to be super wholesome and well done to be worth watching in our house)
Welcome!
Growing up, I thought of home as one of the most fun places there was. And it wasn't because we had an expensive house with nice things. We had a small house with no swimming pool or nintendo (let alone a Wii) and one small tv that was hardly ever on.
And yet, it always seemed like there was so much to do there!
It was a place my friends liked to hang out too. Even as teenagers and young adults, my siblings and I were proud to invite a group of our friends from school or church to crowd into our small house because we knew they would have a good time. And they did!
Our home was a haven of wholesome fun. Because we had that haven, alot of the things that tend to get teenagers into trouble didn't appeal to us. We had so many other things to do! As an adult, I'm very thankful to my parents for having created the home experience that they did that helped us to develop unique interests and that was a catalyst for our budding creativity.
Now that my husband and I have started our own family, we have begun thinking about the fact that we also want to create a wholesome haven for our kids.
In this blog I hope to share some of the unique ingredients that went into my fun home life growing up. I will also write about the ideas that I am learning now through making my own haven. I hope that this blog can be a resource for you and that you also will share with me your fun creative ideas!
